Quick Summary
The U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), Interior Business Center (IBC), on behalf of a U.S. Department of War agency, has issued a Sources Sought / Request for Information (RFI) for an ESLfemto Laser Ablation System. This is a brand name only requirement for the Elemental Scientific Lasers (ESL) imageGEO193 model. The government is seeking industry feedback on the detailed system requirements and capability statements from interested vendors. Responses are due by February 23, 2026, at 8:00 AM ET.
Purpose
This RFI is for market research and planning purposes only. Vendors are specifically asked to confirm their ability to maintain Authorized Reseller certification.
Scope of Work
The requirement is for the ESL imageGEO193 model laser ablation system, which includes specific features such as a Dual Concentric Injector, a repetition rate of 1-500 Hz (with an option for 1000 Hz), 15 J/cm2 fluence, spot sizes from 1-240um, a 3-axis nanograde stage, 15 nsec pulse width, and capabilities for future LIBS integration and surface mapping. The system configuration detailed in Attachment B includes a Light Conversion 257nm Pharos laser, a 100mm TV3 sample chamber, high-resolution camera, embedded Win10 control PC, ActiveView2 and Iolite software, a ruggedized cart, and a 12-month manufacturer's warranty.
