Description: The Fire Extinguisher is a critical component of the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) Automatic Fire Extinguishing System (AFES) that is essential to vehicle readiness by stopping the spread of spontaneous engine compartment fires. The AFES ensures effective isolation and extinguishment of fires, detecting flames within twelve seconds and automatically extinguishing them within forty seconds, while preventing re-ignition for two minutes. As part of the AFES, the Fire Extinguisher plays an essential role by protecting, storing and supplying the fire suppression agents. The Fire Extinguisher must be compatible multiple fire suppression agents including sodium bicarbonate and HFC-227.
