Flatbed Railcar Vehicle Loading RampsSalient Characteristics:Adjustable to heights from 37? to 54? to access the loading area of an open top flatcar. Each ramp will need to be adjusted with relative ease and using common equipment. The width of the loading (driving) surface will need to be 96? at minimum. Each ramp will need to support a minimum of 30,000 lbs. Each ramp needs to be portable and towable by a forklift. Each ramp requires a means to be affixed/attached to an open top flat car. A transition plate at the mouth of the ramps will be needed This plate will reduce forces that may compromise the structural integrity of the ramp structure byway of pushing and sliding between the vehicle and the flatcar. This plate will bridge irregularities in the ballast base and the ramp driving surface, increasing control of the vehicle while loading. Rub-rails and handrails will need to be easily removable to accommodate wider vehicles. These safety mechanisms can be easily reattached after removing to accommodate wider vehicles.
