Statement of Work (SOW)

The objective of this project is to remediate existing mold growth in the Absolutes Building (Building 3) at the USGS Fredericksburg Magnetic Observatory and to prevent or delay future mold growth.

This SOW outlines the requirements for mold remediation in Building 3, a 1-story wood frame structure of approximately 751 square feet, constructed in 1955. The work areas include:

• Crawl Space: Cleaning mold from framing, treating framing with stain lifter and mold growth retardant, encapsulating the ground, sealing to foundation walls, and disinfecting the air.

• Main Floor: Cleaning mold from every surface, disinfecting every surface, and disinfecting the air.

• Attic: Cleaning mold from all rafters, treating rafters with stain lifter and mold growth retardant, and disinfecting the air.

• The contractor must apply a preventative mold growth chemical in the crawl space and attic.

• The contractor must encapsulate the crawl space.

• A 1-year warranty on the work performed is required.

• Place of Performance: USGS Fredericksburg Magnetic Observatory, 4270 Tesla Road, Woodford, VA 22580.

• Period of Performance: Work shall commence upon Notice to Proceed and be completed no later than 30 days from the Notice to Proceed, including final cleanup.

• Contractor must be certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC).

• Contractor must provide proof of insurance for working with mold in Virginia and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals used.

• Contractor must provide warranty information.

• Operations must minimize damage to surroundings and protect existing structures.

• Contractor is responsible for dust and dirt pollution control and debris removal.

• Contractor must coordinate with USGS regarding utility outages at least 72 hours in advance.
