The contractor will provide comprehensive assistance with Medicaid applications for veterans, patients, and caregivers within the VA Maine Healthcare System, serving states in VISN 1 (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut). Key responsibilities include:

  • Navigating the Medicaid application process to completion, including long-term care and community-based services.
  • Providing personal assistance and resources to VHAMEHCS staff, patients, and caregivers.

  • Assisting with Medicaid appeals when necessary.

  • Making initial outreach for inpatient referrals within 48 hours and outpatient referrals within 7 days.
  • Submitting applications within 72 hours of receiving a signed referral form.
  • Tracking and reporting data/analytics related to the application process.
  • Providing training and presentations to staff as needed.
