- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD) is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) to identify potential sources for a High-Density Microelectrode Array (MEA) System. This system is required for detecting, monitoring, and analyzing intracellular electrochemical activity and membrane potentiation in various biological models. Responses are due by April 1, 2026.
Scope of Work
USAMRICD seeks a commercial, off-the-shelf MEA system with compatible training, warranty, and shipping. Key requirements include:
- High-Density Microelectrode Array (MEA) System: Must have over 1,000 electrodes, simultaneous recording/stimulation, minimum 10 kHz sampling per electrode, and integrated stimulation from two channels. It must be compatible with 3D tissue penetration technology for spheroids, organoids, and tissue slices, and include environmental control (37°C, 5% CO2).
- Compatible Sample Holders and Plates: A set of holders with various net sizes and five single-well microchip plates (at least 25mm diameter) with integration components.
- Software and Workstation: Software capable of sorting and analyzing spikes from all electrodes with a perpetual license. A high-performance Windows 11 workstation (4TB SSD, GDDR5 graphics, TAA preferred) and a high-resolution monitor (>2000x1000).
- Services: Comprehensive training within 30 days of receipt and delivery of all items within 12 weeks post-award. Information on extended warranties is also requested.
Contract & Timeline
- Type: Request for Information (RFI) / Sources Sought
- Purpose: Market research for planning purposes only; not a solicitation.
- Set-Aside: The government is interested in all small businesses, including 8(a), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, HUBZone, and Women-Owned small businesses.
- Response Due: April 1, 2026, 2:00 PM EDT
- Published: March 24, 2026
Evaluation
Responses will be used to identify potential contractors with the necessary skills, experience, and knowledge. This RFI will help determine industry capability and potential small business participation.
Additional Notes
This RFI is for informational and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation or commitment to award a contract. Interested organizations should submit a white paper (limited to 4 pages) detailing their ability to meet the requirements, including company information, CAGE Code, NAICS, business size, POC, and teaming partners. Submissions should be emailed to Nicholas VanDevander at nicholas.a.vandevander.civ@health.mil.
