This Sources Sought is for informational purposes only and is not a request for quote or a solicitation. The Government seeks to identify interested and capable sources to provide a Horizontal CNC Lathe for the Arnold Air Force Complex, AEDC. The requirement specifies a new machine, with refurbished or remanufactured parts not authorized, and references the Haas ST20 model.
Key Requirements
The required Horizontal CNC Lathe must meet stringent specifications, including:
- Machine Construction: Meehanite Cast Iron base, bed, and headstock; slant bed style; protective guideway covers; internal chip conveyor and coolant tank.
- Main Spindle & Headstock: 20 Hp rating, variable speed to 4000 RPM, 3.5" minimum spindle capacity, 10" minimum 3-jaw hydraulic chuck, A2-6 Spindle nose mount.
- Turret: 12 station, 24 position indexing.
- Controls: Latest version with 10" minimum Color LCD, 1GB minimum program memory, DNC capability, FANUC protocol compatibility, conversational programming, helical interpolation, Custom Macro B, AC Digital Servo & Spindle Drivers, Data Server 256MB, High Speed Machining, Renishaw style probe tooling, Ethernet Connectivity, Manual pulse generator, overrides, graph run simulator, early power failure detection, rigid tapping, power surge protection.
- Travels: X-axis at least 8", Z-axis at least 22", with +/- .0001" repeatability and positioning.
- General: Max swing at least 20", 11" minimum turning diameter, 20" minimum turning length, auto lubrication, internal coolant tank, full coverage splash guards, automatic tool setter, and various included tool holders and accessories (e.g., chip conveyor, programmable tailstock, A2-6 QG-80 Accu-Length Collet Chuck).
- Contractor Provided Items: Machine with lifting/leveling/attachment hardware, NFPA 79 compliance or 480V transformer, operation/maintenance manuals, standard bar feed unit, parts catcher, tooling package, hydraulic collet chuck, integral coolant tank, and Post Processor for Esprit CAM software.
- Verification: Post-delivery functional tests for accuracy per ISO/ANSI Standards.
- Warranty: 24 months against defects for machine, control, servomotors, and main spindle motor.
- Maintenance, Parts & Service: On-site repair response within 36 hours, parts delivery within 48 hours.
- Packaging/Delivery: Safe delivery, FOB Arnold Air Force Base, TN, with off-loading by AEDC personnel.
- Installation/Training: Installation at Arnold AFB, supervised by factory-trained servicemen, with two-day initial training.
