• Evaluation will be based on non-price factors (Microplastic Experience, Technical Performance, Past Performance) which are of equal importance, and price/cost. Overall non-price merit is considered more important than price or cost.

Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

To analyze environmental samples for microplastics (MP) using advanced spectral analysis and chemical imaging technology.

• Utilize an Agilent 8700 Laser Direct Infrared (LDIR) Chemical Imaging System for MP detection, size determination, and chemical composition analysis.

• Detect MPs in sizes ranging from 10 µm to 500 µm.

• Employ a software MP library containing spectral data of non-microplastics to address potential interferences.

• Collect field blanks using deionized water to monitor for contamination.

• Analyze procedural blanks when filtering samples.

• Data reporting will include methodology description, quality control summary, total MP count, MP size distribution chart, method blank results, laboratory control sample, sample summary, and method summary.

• Samples to be analyzed within 7-14 days of collection for best integrity.

• If storage exceeds 14 days, quality control must validate any degradation or changes.

• Long-term storage involves filtering samples immediately and storing dried filters.

• Sample Handling:

  • Store samples in glass bottles in a cooler box with ice packs at the field site.
  • If a cooler is unavailable, transfer samples to a refrigerator at approximately 4°C.
  • Avoid freezing samples to prevent structural damage.
  • Store samples in the dark to prevent UV degradation.

• Sample Preservation:

  • Store samples in a cool (approx. 4°C) and dark environment.
  • Avoid direct sunlight or heat.
  • Do not freeze water samples.

• General Requirements: Services are Non-Personal. The contractor must furnish all facilities, labor, and materials.
