Quick Summary
The United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) to identify innovative autonomous transportation capabilities for global operations. This RFI seeks commercial solutions, technologies, and developmental roadmaps across all modes of transportation (air, land, sea, and multi-modal) for both passenger and cargo movements. This is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Proposal. Responses are due May 26, 2026, at 12:00 PM CST.
Purpose & Scope
USTRANSCOM manages globally integrated mobility operations and requires the movement of passengers and cargo across domestic and international domains. The Department of Defense (DoD) is exploring autonomous and semi-autonomous systems to enhance safety, efficiency, velocity, and global reach. This RFI aims to understand industry capabilities and innovations in autonomous transportation technologies.
Information Requested
Respondents should provide comprehensive overviews of their technologies, structured by the following categories:
- Company Profile: Organization details, primary domain, and commercial experience with autonomous logistics.
- Current Autonomous Capabilities: Detailed descriptions of fielded platforms, including payload, operational range, operating environments, and Technology Readiness Level (TRL).
- Developmental Roadmap: Overview of platforms in R&D, projected timelines (3-10 years), anticipated capabilities, and milestones.
- Scalability & Flexibility: How solutions scale from small to massive capacity lifts and handle dynamic routing/varying cargo.
- Interoperability: Integration with existing logistics nodes, material handling equipment (MHE), and command/control networks.
- Cybersecurity & Resilience: Approach to securing data links, navigation, and control mechanisms against cyber threats.
- Regulatory Navigation: Strategies and progress for domestic and international regulatory compliance.
