Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

To eradicate Chinese tallow and Phragmites invasive species from Wassaw Island, thereby eliminating long-term environmental degradation and protecting native habitats, including those used by migratory birds and wading birds.

• Treat a minimum of 300 acres for Chinese tallow and a minimum of 3 acres for Phragmites.

• Apply herbicides (Clearcast or AquaNeat) using backpack sprayers for seedlings and advanced regeneration.

• Utilize hack-n-squirt application equipment and Garlon 4 herbicide for sapling Chinese tallow trees.

• Focus on treating all seedlings and advanced regeneration within mixed maritime forest and inter-dunal swale habitats.

• Remove 99.9% of all Chinese tallow stems.

• Remove 99.9% of all Phragmites.

• Visually inspect results of herbicide treatment and efficacy.

• Period: 1 June 2026 through 31 August 2026 (may be extended due to weather or unforeseen conditions).

• Place: Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge, Chatham County, Georgia, USA.

• Work activities are permitted during daylight hours, Monday-Thursday.

• Contractor must provide all labor, equipment, reports, maps, project photos, and PPE.

• Contractor personnel must comply with Department of Interior safety standards, environmental regulations, access control, PPE, and equipment security.
