Quick Summary
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research through a Sources Sought notice to identify qualified businesses capable of providing a new Power Take-Off (PTO) unit and associated repair services for an actively used TH60 drill rig. The current PTO is beyond repair, and replacement parts are no longer manufactured. This is for planning purposes only and is not a request for quote or proposal. Responses are due by March 4, 2026, at 1700 PD.
Scope of Work
The objective is to procure a new PTO unit and the necessary labor for its installation, which includes the removal of the faulty PTO and the installation of the new one. The work will be performed at the Research Drilling Program facility located at 3595 E. Patrick Lane, Suite 100/200, Las Vegas, NV 89120.
Technical Requirements
The required PTO unit must be a single-speed transfer case designed for full-time all-wheel drive, compatible with PTO output, hydraulic pump output, a proportional differential (33/67 or 50/50), and an air-actuated differential lock. Key specifications include:
- Compatibility: Must fit existing mounting, shaft assemblies (1-3/4-12, 1-1/2-12, or 1-1/4-12 yoke/companion flange sizes), and bolt patterns (6-bolt, 10-bolt, or 12-bolt for differential case). Requires press-fit bearings and heat-fit installation.
- Lubrication: Specific oil types and capacities for on-highway use.
- Weight: Approximately 520 lbs.
- Torque Specifications: Detailed requirements for upper, front output, rear output, and lower shafts.
- Specific Part: The required part number is 873-0121-012 (replaced by 873-0039-012), originally manufactured by Fabco, with specifications based on the Fabco TC 170 170pd Service Manual.
