Scope of Work
The contractor will provide labor, materials, tools, equipment, and PPE for required testing on the electrical distribution system at the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center (VA ACC) in Columbus, OH. Key tasks include:
- Performing maintenance according to NFPA 70B and NETA MTS-2019, including primary injection testing.
- Cleaning and inspecting transformers (500KVA or larger).
- Inspecting, testing, maintaining, and/or calibrating Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), switchgears, switchboards, distribution panels, and motor control centers.
- Testing and exercising circuit breakers for overload and short circuit conditions, with full testing for all breakers rated above 200 Amps.
- Testing ground fault protection devices and the entire facility grounding system.
- Identifying hot spots in energized electrical equipment and replacing/tightening loose connections.
- Calibrating and maintaining adjustable protective relays.
- Submitting a complete written report within 14 days of completion, including test data and recommendations.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Contractor must be certified by NETA as a NETA Certified Technician.
- Personnel must have completed OSHA 10-hour construction safety training.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in maintenance, inspection, and testing of Electrical Power Distribution Systems in healthcare, industrial, educational, and commercial facilities.
- Safety training in electrical safety per OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Subpart S and NFPA 70E is required.
- Access to the latest versions of relevant standards (NFPA 70, 70B, 70E, 110, OSHA 29 CFR 1910, NETA, and VHA Directive 1028).
- Work will be performed during non-business hours (7:00 PM - 6:00 AM, Monday - Friday).
- A site visit is strongly recommended.
