Quick Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Network Contracting Office 6, has issued a Notice of Intent to Award a Sole-Source Firm-Fixed Price contract to TrillaMed, LLC for the maintenance and repair of Aesculap surgical instruments and sterile containers. This service is required for the Fayetteville Coastal VA Health Care System and its associated clinics. This is an informational notice, not a request for competitive offers.

Opportunity Details

The VA intends to award a contract to TrillaMed, LLC for monthly repair and maintenance services for VA-owned Aesculap surgical instruments and sterile containers. These services are critical to ensure optimal working condition, patient safety, and regulatory compliance within the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Service at the Fayetteville Coastal VA Health Care System, Fayetteville Health Care Center, Wilmington Health Care Center, and Kiecker Clinic. Services include inspection, repair, sharpening, refurbishment, and general maintenance.

Justification for Sole Source

The sole-source award to TrillaMed, LLC is justified under FAR 6.302-1 (Only One Responsible Source). Research indicates that TrillaMed, LLC is the only authorized Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) distributor for Aesculap, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for a significant portion of the VA's surgical instruments and sterile container systems. OEM authorization is essential to maintain product warranties and ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications. No other vendor was found to possess the required combined technical capability, manufacturer partnership, on-site repair capacity, or compliance with standards such as ANSI AAMI ST 79:2010, ISO 9001, and Aesculap's Instructions for Use (IFU) without unacceptable delay or duplication of cost.
