Scope of Work
This requirement encompasses comprehensive technical conservation services for historic artifacts, specifically Japanese scrolls, paper, and photographs. Key services include:
- Conservation Laboratory Projects: Technical analysis, testing, and conservation treatments for historic and artistic items, with detailed written and photographic documentation.
- On-site Treatment Projects: Assessment and treatment of large or fragile artifacts at various park locations.
- Conservation Survey Projects: On-site assessments of museum facilities and collections to identify needs and estimate treatment hours.
- Specific Projects: Includes treatment of FOMC archives (approx. 450 hours), engravings and watercolors at Marsh Billings Rockefeller NHP (approx. 325 and 250 hours respectively), architectural plans at Saugus Iron Works (approx. 240 hours conservation, 100 hours digitization), and panoramic photographs at Salem Maritime NHS (approx. 485 hours).
- Japanese Scrolls Conservation: Repair and protection of heavily damaged Japanese scrolls at Longfellow House-Washington’s Headquarters NHS (estimated 400 hours).
Contractors must provide one or two professionally trained Conservators with experience in Japanese Scrolls, Paper, Objects, and Historic Artifacts conservation. All work must adhere to OSHA, NIOSH, NPS guidelines, and the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) Code of Ethics.
