Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

To provide fresh, clean, high-quality laboratory animal feed to support animal health and well-being at the USDA-NADC Animal Resources Unit in Ames, Iowa.

• The contractor shall supply various types of laboratory animal feed as specified.

• Deliveries must be made within five (5) working days after receipt of a telephone or written order.

• Deliveries are to USDA, ARS, MWA, NADC, 1920 Dayton Avenue, Building 24, Ames, Iowa 50010.

• Delivery hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (CST), excluding Federal holidays.

• Deliveries must be made in clean, closed vehicles not used for livestock transport.

• Bags must weigh between 30-40 lbs and be machine stitched without metal substances.

• Bags must be tagged with product weight, feed name, nutrient analysis, major ingredients, and manufacture date (within 45 days of manufacture at delivery).

• A delivery ticket must accompany each order.

• Item 1: Dry Feed (Soy Protein Free) for Mice, Rat, Hamster: Oval pellet (3/8" x 5/8" x 1"), min. 18.5% crude protein, min. 6.0% crude fat, max. 3.0% crude fiber. Must be commercially available, have a shelf life of at least 9 months, and be equal to INOTIV TEKLAD GLOBAL 2020X RODENT DIET. No alfalfa/soybean meal or animal protein.

• Item 2: Dry High Fiber Feed for Rabbits: Pellets (approx. 1/4" to 5/16"), min. 14.5% crude protein, min. 2.0% crude fat, max. 23% crude fiber. Must be commercially available, have a shelf life of at least 9 months, and be equal to INOTIV TEKLAD GLOBAL 2031 RABBIT DIET.

• Item 3: Dry High Fiber Feed for Guinea Pig: Pellets (approx. 5/32"), min. 17.5% crude protein, min. 4.0% crude fat, max. 16% crude fiber. Must contain stabilized Vitamin C (no less than 1050 mg/kg), be commercially available, have a shelf life of at least 9 months, and be equal to INOTIV TEKLAD GLOBAL 2041 GUINEA PIG DIET.

• Item 4: Extruded Rodent Diet – Irradiated: Oval pellet (3/8" x 5/8" x 1"), min. 19% crude protein, min. 9% crude fat, max. 4% crude fiber. Must be commercially available, have a shelf life of at least 9 months, and be equal to INOTIV TEKLAD IRRADIATED GLOBAL 2919 PROTEIN EXTRUDED RODENT DIET. No alfalfa/soybean meal or animal protein.

• No substitution or deviation from formulations is permitted without USDA approval.

• Only clean, high-quality ingredients are to be used; blending with low-quality or contaminated ingredients is unacceptable.

• For Item 4, bags must preserve the effectiveness of irradiation.

• Campus is closed to the general public.
• Admission is restricted to authorized persons and approved visitors.
• Visitors must present Government or other identifying credentials and will be issued a visitor's badge.
