Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The Department of the Air Force is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) for LANTIRN Sustaining Engineering Services. This RFI aims to identify potential sources with expertise in the Terrain Following Radar (TFR) subsystem of the AN/AAQ-13 Navigation Pod, subassemblies, and Line Replacement Units (LRU). The government is seeking to overcome barriers to competition for these critical sustainment services. Responses to the Contractor Capability Survey are due by March 18, 2026.
Purpose
This RFI is for information and planning purposes only to identify qualified sources for sustaining engineering efforts for the LANTIRN AN/AAQ-13 Navigation Pod. The Air Force seeks to evaluate and resolve system maintenance and parts obsolescence deficiencies, develop engineering change proposals, and provide technical services. The government does not own or have access to the data for these items and has determined it is not a commercial item. The current sole source contractor is Raytheon Airborne and Space Systems (RTX).
Scope of Work
The required services include post-production sustainment technical services for the LANTIRN TFR subsystem. Key areas of support encompass:
- Evaluation and resolution of system maintenance and parts obsolescence deficiencies.
- Development and review of Class I Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
- Performance of sustainment studies and technical services for system supportability.
- Prime Mission Equipment (PME) Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) sustainment analysis and reporting.
- Investigation and minor changes to materials, test, sub-assemblies, and manufacturing processes for aged LANTIRN systems.
- Diminishing Manufacturing Resource Support (DMRS) for obsolescent issues.
- Depot-level repair problem analysis and support. Contractors must furnish all material, support equipment, tools, test equipment, and services, maintaining and calibrating all required support equipment.
