• Door Stile Width: Provide wide stile aluminum doors consistent with existing exterior door assemblies, not medium stile.

• Door Hardware: Existing hardware is Von Duprin. Contractor may propose equivalent commercial-grade devices. All hardware must be compatible with the Park's Marshall Best Security (MBS) SFIC 7-pin system. Rim exit devices with removable mullions are preferred.
• Door Finish: Provide clear anodized Class I finish. The intent is to match the overall appearance of existing assemblies, but exact color matching to aged finishes is not required. Finish must remain within the standard range of clear anodized aluminum.
• Door Closers: All door closers are to be replaced. Surface-mounted closers are required; concealed overhead closers are not.
• Bird-Safe Glass: Provide bird-safe fritted safety glass as specified in the Scope of Work. Frit patterns require COR review and approval.

Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

This project aims to replace all exterior public entrance door assemblies at the Mammoth Cave Visitor Center to address operational failures, air infiltration, hardware degradation, and non-compliant ADA functionality. The goal is to provide new, durable, code-compliant, and fully functional entrance systems that maintain architectural continuity while improving accessibility, safety, and operational performance.

• Field verification of all door dimensions and conditions.

• Removal and lawful disposal of existing door units, hardware, frames, closers, and associated sealants and thresholds.

• Installation of new aluminum-framed, thermally broken double doors with insulated glazing units (IGUs), low-e coated bird-safe fritted safety glass, weather-stripped, and fully gasketed.

• Doors must comply with ANSI A117.1 (ADA accessibility), ASTM E283 (air leakage), ASTM E330 (structure loading), and ASTM E1886/E1996 (impact resistance).

• Provide wide stile aluminum doors with clear anodized finish, 1" insulated glass units with low-E coating, continuous geared hinges, and thresholds compliant with IBC and ADA.

• Install twelve (12) automatic door operators (six replacement, six additional for independent ingress/egress).
