Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The Argonne National Laboratory (DOE Contractor) has issued a Solicitation (RFQ) for a Magneto-Optical Kerr Microscope & Magnetometer. This opportunity seeks to procure a specialized microscope for high-resolution domain observation. There is no specific set-aside for this requirement. Quotations are due by June 17, 2026.
Scope of Work
The primary deliverable is a comprehensive Magneto-Optical Kerr Microscope system. Key components and features include a wide-field optical polarization microscope with high-end Carl Zeiss optics, a massive granite stand for vibration minimization, motorized height adjustment, and manual focusing. The system requires a binocular tubus with optical zoom lenses (1x, 2.5x, 4x), auxiliary optics for conoscopic imaging, a wire-grid polarizer, and a regular sample stage. Advanced features include a Motion and Drift Correction Kit (xyz piezo stage, autofocus), a Perpendicular Coil (iron-free solenoid up to 110 mT), and customization of an existing Perpendicular Electromagnet. The requirement also includes a low-cost camera for Kerr Microscopy, a mechanically decoupled Magnetoholder, shipping (DAP Lemont), and on-site installation with 2 days of instruction/training at Lemont, IL.
