Quick Summary
Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), managed by Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA), is issuing a Notice of Interest (Sources Sought) for the Main Entrance Portal Replacement project in Upton, NY. This initiative seeks interested contractors capable of demolishing the existing 1960 entrance and constructing a new, modernized portal. The formal solicitation will be issued at a later date. Responses are due March 27, 2026.
Scope of Work
The project entails the demolition and full replacement of the existing Main Gate Entrance (Building 680), which is beyond its useful service life. The new Entrance Portal aims to modernize site access, enhance security, improve operational efficiency, and support BNL's missions, complementing the adjacent Science and User Support Center (SUSC).
The contractor will be responsible for all labor, supervision, materials (except GFE), equipment, and services for demolition and construction. This includes, but is not limited to, site preparation, foundations, structural and architectural construction, roadway modifications, utility installation, security infrastructure integration, sidewalks, paving, lighting, signage, striping, testing, casework, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, landscaping, and commissioning.
Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE): BSA will provide two (2) separately procured security booths. The contractor's responsibility will be to coordinate delivery, relocate, install, anchor, and connect these GFE booths.
Work must be phased to ensure continuous site security and controlled access to BNL throughout the construction period.
