Scope of Work
The work involves comprehensive maintenance on the Caisson 4-5 Spare, which measures 147 FT – 5 IN in length, 27 FT in width, and 53 FT – 11 IN in height, with a full displacement of 1,565 L Tons. Key tasks include:
- Docking and Undocking: Coordinate delivery and return of the asset.
- Cleaning and Inspections: Wash, clean, and conduct ultrasonic and visual inspections of the hull, weather deck, tanks, piping, and operations deck.
- Structural Repairs: Perform various base metal and structural repairs.
- Component Maintenance/Replacement: Replace port rubber seal, maintain starboard seal, maintain/replace deck hatches, install new mimic board, test alarm systems, clean ventilation, replace all valves, dewatering pumps, grease lines, steady bearings, actuators, and valve-stem extension shafts.
- Preservation: Preserve the hull, weather deck, weather deck handrails, tanks, piping, and operations deck; replace zinc anodes.
- Operational Testing: Conduct operational testing.
Contractor responsibilities also include arranging transport of the Caisson from PSNS Bremerton to their facility and back, and providing secure office space for Government representatives. All work must adhere to the highest commercial marine industry standards and specified technical references, with strict safety compliance (29 CFR 1915, 1910, 1926).
