The Malheur National Forest has a requirement to purchase cattleguards and cattleguard components for Disaster Recovery in the Rail Ridge Fire Area.
The Forest will utilize local equipment and personnel to remove and replace the existing damaged cattle guards. This is just a purchase for supplies only.
Requirements:
- Cattleguards shall meet HS-20 load rating according AASHTO.
- For these cattleguards and components, the bases shall be constructed of metal.
- All metal shall be painted yellow.
- No component’s weight shall exceed the lifting capacity of our USFS Case 580 backhoe. Assume a max lifting weight for this machine to be 3,000 pounds.
- The deck rails shall be comprised of a “roll formed rail section” (an image of this is shown on the attached shop drawing with “DECK” in the title).
- Cattleguard decks shall be 14 foot measured perpendicular to the road by 8 foot measured parallel to the road. Drawings of an approved product, which show these dimensions is attached.
Quantities:
- 4 complete cattleguard assemblies for single-lane roads. Each assembly includes a 14 foot x 8 foot deck, a base assembly (two bases per base assembly, including two appropriately-sized diaphragms, gusset plates, and any associated timber foundations), and a set of wings (two wings per assembly), and all hardware and fasteners necessary to construct the cattleguard.
- 3 additional base assemblies (two bases per assembly, including two appropriately-sized diaphragms, gusset plates, any associated timber foundations, and any associated hardware). The size for these base assemblies shall match 14 foot by 8 foot cattleguard decks.
