Purpose
This notice is a Sources Sought ONLY and not a Request for Quote (RFQ). Its primary purpose is to perform market research and identify interested Small Businesses that can fulfill the requirement for 800 mattresses for MCRD Parris Island. This action does not obligate the Government to award any contract or purchase order.
Scope of Work
The requirement is for 800 navy blue nylon mattresses. The mattresses must adhere to specific salient characteristics to ensure durability, uniformity, and suitability for constant use on metal racks. Key specifications include:
- Dimensions: 36"W x 77-80"L x 8" thickness.
- Construction: Features 5 layers of quilting, a 312 Innerspring Coil Unit (13 Gauge Bonnell Type Coils with 6 Gauge Border Rods), 4 to 5-inch corner pads (4), a Fiber Insulator Pad (2 oz. / ft.² per side), ½” Topper Foam per side, Typar Non-Woven (2 oz. per side), and 4 Lb. (3 oz. / ft.²) Stitched Cotton Felt per side.
- Ticking: Polyurethane coated blue nylon, waterproof.
- Upholstery: Lock stitched (NOT Chain Stitched) seams with Kevlar thread; inverted seams located halfway down the mattress depth to prevent fluid absorption.
- Required Properties: Must be Crack Resistant, Stain Resistant, Antimicrobial (Antifungal and Antibacterial), Bedbug Resistant, Fluid Proof, Non-Allergenic, Wipe to Clean, Odor Free, Flame Retardant, Anti-Static, and Tear/Rip Resistant.
