Quick Summary
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is soliciting proposals for Medical Air Gas and Piping Installation at the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. This project involves furnishing and installing new Amico medical gas systems in ten (10) Fastrack emergency rooms to ensure critical medical gas availability. This is a Total Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Set-Aside. Proposals are due by April 17, 2026.
Scope of Work
The contractor will furnish and install new Amico 3 gas, OAV 3/4," 3/4," 1" zone valve boxes, Amico LCD area alarm panels (excluding electrical and low voltage work by VA), and Amico DISS outlets/inlets in ER Fast Track rooms 1 through 10. The scope includes all necessary labor, materials, supplies, engineering, start-up, tools, equipment, transportation, supervision, and debris removal, along with coordinating third-party certification of all work. Compliance with VA guidelines, best construction practices, building codes, manufacturer's instructions, and VHA 01-35-26 safety requirements is mandatory. The project duration is 3 months from Notice to Proceed (NTP).
Key clarifications from Amendment 2: Only Amico equipment is accepted. The VA's in-house team will handle Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) materials/equipment, wall/ceiling finish work (including opening and closing walls), hazardous materials (asbestos, lead, mold), and demolition of existing infrastructure. Most work can be performed during regular hours, with only tie-ins potentially requiring after-hours work. The solicitation is a negotiated design-bid-build RFP, with the Government's AE responsible for design.
