Previous environmental efforts at the site, ongoing since 2010, have included the removal of facility buildings and waste materials, excavation and disposal of contaminated media, and the installation of an engineered cover. A Permeable Reactive Barrier (PRB) was also constructed to reduce hexavalent chromium (Cr[VI]) to less toxic trivalent chromium in groundwater before it discharges into Bliss Brook. The current effort focuses on addressing the mid-plume contamination.
