Quick Summary

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Norfolk District (NAO), issued a Special Notice for a Virtual Industry Day regarding the future Milford Haven Dredging and Jetty Repair contract. This event, held on January 15, 2026, aimed to gather industry input on best practices and technical execution for this anticipated Small Business Set-Aside project. The solicitation is expected in February 2028 (Q4 FY2028), with an award anticipated in August 2028.

Project Scope

The project involves hydraulic or mechanical maintenance dredging of the Milford Haven Channel in Gwynn, Virginia (Mathews County), to a depth of -10 feet MLLW with 1 foot of allowable overdepth. Approximately 25,000 cubic yards of sand will be dredged and transported via pipeline to Queens Creek Beach and Narrows Point Beach placement sites.

Additionally, the scope includes jetty maintenance on approximately 330 linear feet of the existing 1,183-foot jetty. This work entails removing old stone, walkway, and piles; installing new 20-foot sheet pile; and adding filter fabric, bedding stone, and armor stone to raise the elevation from 2.0 feet MLLW to 6.0 feet MLLW. Access for jetty work may utilize barges, temporary causeways, or temporary work bridges. Environmental considerations include accounting for Submerged Aquatic Vegetation (SAV) areas and requiring a turbidity curtain.
