Quick Summary

The U.S. Army Contracting Command – Rock Island, on behalf of the Program Manager Close Combat Systems (PM-CCS), is issuing a Sources Sought announcement to identify capable manufacturers for the MK83-7 General Purpose (GP) Bomb Body for Fiscal Years (FY) 2026-2028. The requirement is for up to 5,000 units annually, with First Article Test (FAT) requirements. This is for information and planning purposes only; no contract will be awarded from this notice. Manufacturing requires specialized processes, equipment, facilities, and skills, including forming, welding, heat treating, machining, coating, testing, and assembly. Critical equipment includes large induction heaters, CNC lathes, robotic welders, and specialized testing apparatus capable of handling steel pipe up to 19 inches in diameter and 98 inches long. Contractors must successfully complete FAT and Lot Acceptance Tests.
