Quick Summary
This Presolicitation Notice announces the government's intent to acquire three (3) Mobile Welding Machines and three (3) Trailers for use in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The requirement is for a mobile, engine-driven welding system with specific capabilities and associated trailers. Responses are due by May 1, 2026.
Scope of Work
The requirement includes three mobile, engine-driven welding systems providing true DC constant current/constant voltage (CC/CV) output for Stick, MIG, flux-cored, and DC TIG welding without external modules or reconfiguration. Systems must offer simultaneous, independent weld output and high-capacity generator power (12,000 peak watts/10,000 continuous, 1-phase, 120/240VA & 50hz) without derating, supporting auxiliary equipment. Welders must be diesel-powered and support air carbon arc gouging with 3/16-inch electrodes, providing high open-circuit voltage for reliable arc starts.
The three accompanying trailers should be flatbed type, comparable to the Miller Big Blue 400 Kubota ArcReach® Pre-Assembled Trailer Package. They must be suitable for transporting the welding machine and accessories around a construction site, with dimensions matching the welder. Required features include safety chains, fenders, a minimum of four tie-down points, a fire extinguisher mount, and at least one landing gear. A US size ball hitch of 1-7/8" is preferred, with a 50mm EU size ball hitch being acceptable; a pintle hitch is not preferred. Welding machines are to be mounted on trailers, with customer mounting at the delivery location acceptable if all hardware is included.
