Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to HEXAF INNOVATIONS LLC for a Multi-Platform Investigation of Cross-Scale Energy Transfer. This effort will be performed at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications by June 22, 2026, to determine if a competitive procurement is feasible.
Scope of Work
The objective is to utilize existing in situ and ground-based observations to develop event studies that identify measurement needs and observational gaps for the future Links multi-scale geospace mission. The contractor shall:
- Identify candidate substorm events with THEMIS and MMS alignment and good ground-based observational coverage (ELFIN, POES/MetOp, Swarm).
- Produce studies on current sheet formation and disruption in the near-Earth magnetotail using MMS and THEMIS data.
- Study magnetotail activity in relation to near-Earth particle injections, ionospheric particle precipitation, and other ionospheric responses.
- Develop an AI-ML-assisted event workflow for event organization and feature extraction across datasets, delivering a prototype workflow.
