Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to identify qualified vendors and gather input on Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) solutions for feature extraction. This RFI supports selected operational Geospatial Intelligence (GeoInt) use cases and is for planning purposes only, not a request for bids. Responses are due by 17:30 CET on June 23, 2026.
Scope of Work
The RFI seeks information on GeoAI solutions capable of supporting at least one of six specific use cases, ideally leveraging machine learning, deep learning, or natural language processing:
- Roads: Extraction with details like width, lanes, material, and condition.
- Railroads: Extraction including track gauge, tunnels, stations, and transfer points.
- Bridges: Extraction with likely use, type, spans, width, height, condition, and material.
- Building footprints: Extraction including number of floors and estimated volume.
- Building material: Identification for man-made features.
- Terrain & soil: Terrain classification and soil composition for analysis.
Solutions should consider various imagery and geospatial data types, such as high-resolution optical, SAR, infrared, geospatially enabled video, point cloud data, and text with geospatial aspects.
Contract & Timeline
- Type: Request for Information (RFI) – for planning purposes only.
- Response Due: 17:30 hours Central European Time (CET) on June 23, 2026.
- Published: May 13, 2026.
- NCIA Reference: RFI-187262-GEOAI.
Submission & Evaluation
Responses must be submitted via the linked Microsoft Forms survey (Annex A), not to the Department of Commerce. Responses should be concise, ideally not exceeding four sentences per question. Demonstrations may be requested and should be provided free of charge. The NCIA will use responses for market research to inform future acquisition strategies and may follow up on information internally.
Eligibility
Only companies from NATO member countries are eligible to participate or respond.
Additional Notes
Important considerations include interoperability with NATO's CoreGIS, integration with networks, and compliance with governance, security regulations, and STANAGs. For questions, contact Emira Kapetanovic at RFI-187262-GEOAI@ncia.nato.int.
