Qualification Details

Fit reasons
  • NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
  • Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
  • Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
  • Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps

Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.

Quick Summary

The Department of the Army is conducting a Sources Sought / Request for Information (RFI) for an Edge Compute Device (ECD) for the Nett Warrior program. The program seeks a single, integrated system to replace multiple individual components, reducing the warfighter's burden and enhancing situational awareness. This new device must integrate on-board computing, 5G connectivity, and support multiple Army MANET waveforms. Responses are due by March 24, 2026.

Purpose & Scope

The current Nett Warrior system, while effective, relies on numerous separate components (chest mount, power/data hub, radio, cabling), increasing size, weight, and power (SWaP). The Army is seeking industry solutions for a consolidated ECD that will replace the chest mount, power hub, and radio. This device must be powered by the existing Conformable Wearable Battery (CWB) and significantly reduce overall SWaP. Key capabilities include advanced computing, 5G, and MANET, along with a detachable, protective case for the End User Device (EUD).

Key Requirements

Based on the provided Capabilities and Validation Mapping Matrix, the ECD must meet stringent technical specifications:

  • SWaP: Weight <64oz (threshold), <48oz (objective); Size within 6” x 4” x 4” volume.
  • Ruggedization: MIL-STD-810H compliant (Rain, Dust, Sand, Mud, Immersion, Salt Fog, Temp, Shock, Vibration, etc.) and IP65/IP67 water resistance.
  • Power & Data: Receive and pass power/data from CWB to EUD; include power management and external status indication.
  • Communications: Integrate MANET Tactical Radio (min. 3km range, 90% CCR voice, 85% MCR data; objective 5km); support voice/data over 5G (commercial/private) and Iridium Satcom simultaneously.
  • Computing: 8-Core processor, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM (or equivalent).
  • Interfaces: Multiple NW PAN receptacles, ODU 7-pin (PTT/headsets), ODU 12-pin (external systems), militarized USB-C, RF output ports.
  • Software: Hardened, government-approved, modular OS; support third-party mission apps; DoD Zero Trust principles, STIG compliant, remote policy enforcement; OTA updates.
  • EUD Case: Geometrically and electronically compatible with Samsung Galaxy S23 TE EUD, providing protection and fast charging.

Response Requirements

Interested parties should address the following questions:

  • Company experience with similar military systems development and manufacturing, including software.
  • Description of proposed technology, including requirements met/not met and support for multiple RF transport modalities.
  • Approach to system software development, device provisioning, and 3rd party application integration.
  • Estimated timeline for initial prototype delivery.
  • Non-binding ROM cost estimate for production-ready prototype development.
