Quick Summary
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), specifically the Microsystems Technology Office (MTO), has issued a Special Notice for its Next-Generation Microelectronics Manufacturing (NGMM) Program. DARPA is actively seeking innovative, post-competitive, and awardable solutions that utilize the early-stage version of the NGMM 3D Assembly Design Kit (3D-ADK) for mixed-material 3D-heterogeneously integrated (3DHI) microsystem design with commercial Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools. This is an immediate search, with submissions reviewed on a rolling basis. The submission window is from April 16, 2026, to July 31, 2026.
Scope of Work
DARPA is looking for solutions that:
- Exercise and evaluate the early-stage release of the 3D-ADK and EDA workflow.
- Address the current insufficiency of existing EDA tools and ADK infrastructure for architectural exploration and simulation of 3DHI designs.
- Align with the NGMM technology roadmap.
- Demonstrate next-generation 3DHI designs with significant performance benefits.
- Showcase team expertise in mixed-signal/mixed-materials design.
- Clearly define the problem space and current state of the art.
