Quick Summary
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Central Federal Lands Division, is issuing a Sources Sought notice for the NM FLAP SR35(1) Grant County Bridges project. This is not a request for bid, but rather a market research effort to determine if there is sufficient interest from qualified small businesses (including HUBZone, woman-owned, 8(a), and service-disabled veteran-owned) to allow for a set-aside. The project involves the reconstruction of three bridges and a concrete box culvert near Mimbres, New Mexico. Responses are due by April 17, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. MDT.
Scope of Work
The project is located along State Route (SR) 35 in Grant County, New Mexico, providing access to the Gila National Forest. The proposed improvements are at four locations: Bridge 1330 (MP 0.5), a concrete box culvert (MP 4.65), Bridge 1873 (MP 5.2), and Bridge 1876 (MP 8.42). Construction must account for cold-weather provisions during winter months.
Schedule A includes the demolition of existing structures and construction of three new simple-span, precast, prestressed concrete bridges:
- An 80-ft simple span with I-girders and a cast-in-place reinforced concrete deck.
- A skewed 55-ft-6-in simple span using voided slabs with a cast-in-place (CIP) concrete overlay.
- A 36-ft simple span using voided slabs with a cast-in-place (CIP) concrete overlay.
Option X involves removing an existing open-bottom concrete box culvert and replacing it with a 10-ft by 5-ft reinforced concrete box culvert. The work requires experience in cultural and natural resource sensitive areas with numerous environmental constraints.
