Quick Summary

The US Army, Capability Program Executive – Simulations Training and Instrumentation (CPE-STRI), Soldier Virtual Trainer (SVT), has issued a Special Notice seeking industry partners for a no-cost bailment agreement. The objective is to accelerate the development of Virtual Marksmanship Simulator components (surrogates and/or "drop-in-kits") compatible with the US Army Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW), specifically the M7, M250, and XM157 Fire Control Smart Scope. Vendors must be willing to self-fund Independent Research and Development (IRAD) for these components. Responses are requested by February 18, 2026, 11:00 AM.

Scope of Work

This initiative requires vendors to design, develop, and test surrogate and/or "drop-in-kit" components that replace internal parts of the M7 and M250 weapons, enabling simulated firing and functioning within the SVT training simulator. The government will loan NGSW systems and associated technical data under a bailment agreement to facilitate this development.
