Quick Summary

The US Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska District, is conducting a Sources Sought for the 2027-2029 Nome Harbor Maintenance Dredging project in Nome, Alaska. This market research aims to identify qualified prime contractors for annual maintenance dredging and material placement. Responses are due by February 28, 2026, 2:00 PM Alaska Standard Time.

Scope of Work

The project involves pre- and post-dredge surveys, annual maintenance dredging, and placement of dredged material in a designated intertidal area at Nome Harbor. Material consists of shoaled silts, sands, gravels, cobbles, boulders, and vegetative debris.

Anticipated dredging includes:

  • Base (2027): Estimated 24,000 cubic yards (CY) per year from the inner channel (depths -22 to -10 feet MLLW). This area may be deepened to -28 feet MLLW under a separate contract.
  • Options (2027-2029):
    • Estimated 20,000 CY/year from the outer entrance channel (-22 feet MLLW), potentially deepened to -28 feet MLLW.
    • Estimated 25,000 CY/year from the east sediment trap (-22 feet MLLW).
    • Estimated 20,000 CY/year from the new deep-water basin (-40 feet MLLW), to be constructed under a separate contract.

Dredged material will be placed on a beach approximately 1,150 feet southeast of the harbor basin. The work period for base items in 2027 is anticipated from May 1 to July 31, subject to ice out, with potential extension to August 31 if options are exercised. Similar work periods apply to 2028 and 2029 options. The contractor must ensure harbor accessibility throughout the work.
