Justification for Sole Source
The NIH intends to award this contract to Illumina, Inc. (San Diego, CA) on a sole source basis. This decision is based on the determination that Illumina, Inc. is the original manufacturer and exclusive servicer of the NextSeq 1000 Sequencing System. The Government deems it in its best interest to procure this maintenance directly from the manufacturer. This acquisition is being conducted under FAR Part 13 – Simplified Acquisition Procedures, Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), which allows for solicitation from a single source when only one source is reasonably available.
Response Information
This is a notice of intent, not a request for quotation, and a solicitation document will not be issued. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this posting. The Government retains discretion regarding competition based on responses. Comments, referencing the posting number, should be submitted via email to Gregory Noland (gregory.noland@nih.gov) by the specified closing date.
