Justification for Sole Source
The acquisition is justified under FAR 6.302-11(b)(3) to Security Engineered Machinery, Inc. (SEM) because SEM is the proprietary manufacturer of the equipment. The equipment's design requires specialized vetting and training for maintenance, warranty repairs, and precise calibration. Only OEM parts, supplied exclusively by SEM, can be used to ensure reliability and maintain warranties. Therefore, only SEM or its authorized subcontractors are permitted to perform work on this equipment. Market research, including a Sources Sought Notice, yielded no responses.
