Quick Summary
The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC/NDB) is hosting an Industry Day on May 13-14, 2026, at Eglin Air Force Base, FL, to inform potential offerors about the upcoming Nuclear Stores Interface Unit (NSIU) production acquisition. This event aims to gather industry feedback and provide awareness as the Government develops its acquisition strategy. Registration is mandatory by April 29, 2026.
Purpose & Scope
The NSIU is a Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) designed to provide an electronic interface for communication between aircraft platforms and stores, updating connections to meet MIL-STD-1760 requirements and enhancing nuclear hardness. This will be a build-to-print manufacturing effort, not requiring hardware installation. The Industry Day serves as a pre-solicitation event for a follow-on production contract to the current Engineering, Manufacturing and Development (EMD) effort, which is due to complete in early 2027. The Government anticipates releasing a solicitation in Q2 FY2027.
Industry Day Details
The event will feature briefings on the NSIU mission, production requirements, contracting approaches under consideration, and a notional program schedule, followed by a Q&A session. One-on-one discussions with AFNWC personnel are also available in 30-minute slots for companies to present capabilities and strategies. Attendance is not mandatory for future participation but is highly encouraged.
Registration & Participation
Attendance is limited to three U.S. citizen attendees per company and requires pre-registration by 12:00 PM EST on April 29, 2026. Attendees must provide their name(s), company name and address, POC email and phone, social security numbers for U.S. citizenship confirmation, and company security POC information to Ms. Caroline Segovia (caroline.segovia@us.af.mil) and Ms. Catherine Sadler (catherine.sadler@us.af.mil). Government-issued photo identification is required for entry. No electronic devices will be allowed inside the facility.
