PROJECT NAME: REHAB RIVERBANK & SANDTOWN WOODS TR

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  The Rehab Riverbank and Sandtown Woods Trail project is located in the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge in eastern Oklahoma approximately 90 miles southeast of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Refuge sits at the confluence of the Arkansas and Canadian Rivers. The Refuge was established as an overlay of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) lands along Robert S. Kerr Reservoir created by the Robert S. Kerr Dam.

The project consists of improving visitor access and experience by repairing damaged areas of the bank, protect existing trail infrastructure, and to repair sections of trail damaged after the 2019 flooding event. This includes stabilization and repair of approximately 1,150 linear feet of riverbank and repair/reconstruction of approximately 500 linear feet of 6-foot-wide asphalt trail.

PRINCIPAL WORK ITEMS:

  • 2,700 CUYD of earthwork
  • 2,700 CUYD of place riprap
  • 60 TON of asphalt concrete pavement
  • 195 CUYD of topsoil.

The project work will be performed in a grassed upland area that contains some wooded vegetation offset from the riverbank.

Advertisement – September 2025

Award – November 2025

Contract Completion – March 2026

ESTIMATED COST RANGE:  Total estimated cost between $700,000 and $2,000,000.
