Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

To perform an 18,000-hour maintenance overhaul on the ship's high pressure air compressors (HPACs) and to perform an electrical and condensate drain upgrade due to obsolete equipment.

• Overhaul two (2) used Dresser-Rand Company Model N20NL-11C High Pressure Air Compressors.

• The compressors will be delivered from Alabama Shipyard to an OEM-approved facility in Chesapeake, VA for shop overhaul.

• Tasks include:

  • Draining and disposing of liquids.
  • Removing and replacing connecting rod crankpin bearing shells.
  • Cleaning all crosshead and connecting rod parts.
  • Inspecting and measuring critical dimensions of crosshead, crosshead pin, and retaining ring.
  • Removing and replacing crankshaft and main bearings.
  • Cleaning the frame and oil sump.
  • Disassembling and inspecting the oil pump.
  • Replacing the crankshaft oil seal.
  • Cleaning and inspecting piston rod oil wiper assemblies.
  • Overhauling the freshwater pump.
  • Cleaning the cooling water system.
  • Hydrostatically testing the cooling water system.
  • Refurbishing the manual condensate drain manifold and drain line check valves.
  • Refurbishing the unloading valve and unloading valve pilot valve.

• Perform system upgrade to the drains to address obsolescence and lack of support for future repairs/service requirements.

• Coordinate transportation of the overhauled compressors from the contractor's OEM workshop to LP-26 MSC Norfolk Warehouse.
