The USDA Forest Service is seeking quotations for timber marking and cruising services for the Kangaroo Stewardship Timber Sale on the Ottawa National Forest in Ironwood, Michigan. Scope of Work

This project involves timber marking and cruising across approximately 368 acres. Key tasks include:

  • Hardwood Single-Tree Selection (332 acres): Marking and cruising for Payment Units 01-09, 11, 13 & 14. Objective is to remove high-risk, defective, poor-form, or mature trees while maintaining optimal growing stock.
  • Clearcut/Removal Cut (36 acres): Marking and cruising for Payment Units 10 & 12. All live and/or dead trees meeting minimum specifications are to be removed, except designated reserve or leave trees.
  • Sample Tree Cruising Method (STR): Applicable to all units, requiring measurement of a specified proportion of trees for removal and tallying others as count trees. Every tree for removal must be visited and marked.
  • Adherence to the Ottawa National Forest's Timber Theft Prevention Plan (TTPP).
  • Government will furnish tree marking paint, R9 Timber Sale Cruise Tally Card & Instructions, and marking guides.

Contract Details

  • Contract Type: Firm Fixed Price.
  • Period of Performance: Upon award through November 30, 2026. Work may occur in summer and/or winter.
  • Estimated Sale Value: The Kangaroo Stewardship Timber Sale has an estimated value of $80,000.
  • Set-Aside: This solicitation IS NOT A SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE.
