Scope of Work
This Request for Quotation (RFQ) is for timber marking and volume estimation services on approximately 461 acres within the Ottawa National Forest, North Zone, for the FY26NZ Stampede Marking Contract. The work primarily involves timber marking and volume estimation in Northern Hardwoods forest types. Key requirements include:
- Hardwood Selection, Improvement, Thinning (Marking & Cruising): Marking and cruising uneven-aged or even-aged stands to remove high-risk, defective, or poor-form trees. This requires two paint marks at DBH and a corresponding stump mark on all merchantable trees to be removed.
- Sample Tree Cruising Method (STR): This method will be used for marking and cruising, ensuring every tree designated for removal is visited and marked.
- Right-of-way Clearing: USFS will mark these areas, but the contractor will still perform sample tree cruising.
- Government Furnished Tree Marking Paint (TMP): Blue paint will be provided by appointment at the Ontonagon Ranger District Office.
