Scope of Work
This opportunity requires a Parts Kit for a 1/2 inch Ball Valve, comprising one Ball (piece 2, NAVSEA Drawing 8544033) and two mating Seats (piece 43, NAVSEA Drawing 7284884). The material is designated as SPECIAL EMPHASIS material (Level I) due to its use in crucial shipboard systems, where failure could result in serious injury, loss of life, or loss of vital shipboard systems.
Key Requirements
- Material Specifications: Ball must be SAE AMS-QQ-S-763, class 304, condition A. Seats must be Torlon 4503, 4203, or 4203L per Electric Boat Specification 4147.
- Quality Assurance: Contractors must maintain a quality system compliant with ISO-9001 (amplified herein) and ISO-10012 or ANSI-Z540.3 with ISO-17025. An alternate system per MIL-I-45208 with MIL-STD-45662 is acceptable. Government Quality Assurance (GQA) at source is required.
- Traceability & Certification: Strict traceability from material to certification test reports is mandatory. Quantitative chemical and mechanical analysis is required for specified parts. Certificates of Compliance (C of C) are essential, with specific content requirements.

- Configuration Control: The contractor must maintain total equipment baseline configuration. Waivers/Deviations and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) require Government review and approval.
- Marking: Permanent marking of Balls (in the airway) and Seats (outer cylindrical surface) is required per MIL-STD-792, with specific provisions for Teflon seats.
