Quick Summary
The U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), is seeking competitive quotations for the PC-26-01A, Pacific Deepwater Investigations, Research, and Technology (PAC-DIRT) Study. Purpose & Scope
This Combined Synopsis and Solicitation (RFQ) aims to increase understanding of how environmental factors influence the spatial and temporal distribution of sediment plumes, particularly in the context of seabed mineral extraction. The study involves four key tasks:
- Task 1: Overall Project Planning and Management: Includes project management, a Study Plan (with Data Management and QA/QC), and various reports.
- Task 2: Sediment Analyses: Involves collecting and analyzing sediment samples to characterize properties relevant to sediment plume modeling, such as grain size distribution, floc formation, and particle settling velocities.
- Task 3: Sediment Plume Modeling: Utilizes regional oceanographic data and sediment properties to model benthic and midwater sediment plumes, including their behavior, concentrations, and settling rates.
- Task 4: Synthesize Information: Summarizes and analyzes completed tasks to produce a Final Report and Technical Summary. Deliverables include a Draft Study Plan, Quarterly Progress Reports, a Draft Final Report, a Final Report, scientific publications, and data submissions.
