Qualification Details

Fit reasons
  • NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
  • Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
  • Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
  • Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps

Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.

Quick Summary

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to NORTH AMERICAN MANUFACTURING PROS LLC for Powder Bed Fusion Development of Oxide Dispersion Strengthened Alloys. This effort will focus on developing and optimizing laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) processes for specialty ODS and burn-resistant nickel-based alloys to enhance high-temperature mechanical performance. This is a Special Notice under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), with a 8(a) Sole Source (FAR 19.8) set-aside.

Scope of Work

The project aims to develop and optimize L-PBF processes for advanced alloys, including ORCAlloy-14, ORCAlloy-21, Alloy 754-ODS, GRX-810, and other NASA-developed ODS alloys. Key tasks include:

  • Task 1: L-PBF Parameter Development and Builds: Provide access to an EOS M280 L-PBF system for developmental alloys, implement and validate proprietary parameter sets for high relative density, develop new parameter sets for NASA-supplied powders, conduct print trials, and document all build records and process parameters.
  • Task 2: Mechanical Testing of NASA AM Alloys: Perform a minimum of 100 mechanical tests (tensile, low/high-cycle fatigue) on specimens from Task 1, coordinating methodologies and documenting all test data.
  • Task 3: Powder Development for Developmental Builds: Supply a minimum of 200 lbs of specified developmental alloy powder conforming to NASA specifications, with full certifications for traceability.
