Quick Summary
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) will host an in-person Proposers Day for the Promethean Clay program on February 25, 2026, at the DARPA Conference Center in Arlington, VA. This Special Notice aims to introduce the program's vision, facilitate interaction among researchers, and encourage teaming arrangements. DARPA anticipates releasing a Program Solicitation (PS) for Promethean Clay (DARPA-PS-26-16) prior to the event, which will be available on sam.gov.
Program Overview
The Promethean Clay program, managed by DARPA's Microsystems Technology Office (MTO), seeks to develop a new class of energy storage devices by utilizing mechanically co-designed materials, moving away from rigid exoskeletons. Key goals include improving energy storage performance, ensuring thermal and safety performance for practical integration, and establishing a pathway for domestic sourcing of materials and manufacturing. This is a four-year effort structured into three phases, with Phase 1 lasting two years to demonstrate the energy storage framework.
