Services must meet or exceed national standards set by the American Association for Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET). A minimum of four key personnel are required: two IONM Technologists and two Neurophysiologist Physicians.
Key Personnel Qualifications
- Neurophysiologist Physicians: Must hold a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, or D.C. when performing onsite services. They must be Board Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) and possess a Fellowship certificate in Intraoperative Neuromonitoring.
- IONM Technologists: Must hold a Certificate of Neurophysiologic Interoperative Monitoring (CNIM) from ABRET.
- All Personnel: Must be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent, with up-to-date continuing education. Credentialing and privileging will follow VHA Directive 1100.20 and 1100.21.
