Scope of Work
The selected contractor will provide comprehensive Radiation Safety Officer services, overseeing the Radiation Safety Program at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center and the Pontiac CBOC. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the identification, correction, and verification of radiation protection problems.
- Ensuring the safe use of radioactive materials, adhering to ALARA principles.
- Conducting periodic reviews and audits of the radiation safety program, including annual, semi-annual, and quarterly evaluations.
- Reviewing and approving training, experience, and proposed changes to equipment, facilities, and procedures.
- Providing training to fluoroscope users and conducting annual inspections and calibrations of X-ray equipment.
- Managing waste disposal for all radioactivity users and preparing license renewals and amendments.
- Providing oversight for the security of radioactive materials and being available for incident reviews and emergencies.
