• General Duties: Observation, assistance to staff (e.g., with incapacitated patients), customer service, emergency response, daily logging, inspections, building/grounds surveillance, monitoring security and fire systems, enforcing building rules, directing lost and found to staff, maintaining law and order, preventing unauthorized access, reporting hazardous conditions, and securing areas.
• Specific Location Duties: Opening/closing facilities, alarm monitoring, CCTV monitoring, active patrols, and dispatch console operation at designated sites.
• Personnel Requirements: Guards must have no criminal record, pass background investigations (SAC), possess a high school diploma, be English literate, have at least two years of public interaction experience, and meet health and physical fitness standards. Supervisors require a minimum of three years of field supervision experience in law enforcement or security, with strong de-escalation and communication skills.
• Compliance: Adherence to VA facility policies (drug-free, no smoking, no weapons) and VHA Directive 1192 regarding influenza vaccination or masking.
