Statement of Work (SOW)

To provide radioactive waste disposal services for the USDA National Center for Cool and Cold Water Aquaculture (NCCCWA), including pick-up, transportation, labeling, fate determination, documentation, and audit trails until ultimate treatment or disposal.

• Removal of a one-time pickup of a Cesium-137 Radioactive Source (0.1193 uCi, dated 5/1/1984), approximately the size of a quarter.

• Proper packaging, labeling, and transportation from the accumulation site to an ultimate disposal site.

• Ensuring waste goes to a properly permitted site.

• Completion and submission of all necessary Federal and State reporting requirements and documentation, including manifests.

• Handling of radioactive waste from the accumulation point to ultimate disposal, including proper handling, transportation, packaging, labeling, and paperwork.

• Compliance with all applicable Federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including RCRA, Toxic Substances Control Act, OSHA, Hazardous Materials Transportation Act, and DOT regulations.

• Mandatory recycling of materials where feasible.

• Proper handling and disposal of hazardous and toxic wastes.

• Submission of required documentation, including manifests and certificates of disposal/recycling.

• Services on USDA property will be provided during normal hours of operation (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday), unless otherwise approved.

• Containers are not warranted by USDA for transportation; offerors must assess suitability.

• Treatment of hazardous waste on USDA Government property is not permitted.

Solicitation / RFP / RFQ

This is a Request for Quote (RFQ) for Radioactive Waste Disposal services, specifically the packing and shipping of a Cesium-137 source. The services are needed by the NEA Cool and Cold Water Aquaculture in Kearneysville, WV.
