Quick Summary
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), under the Department of Commerce, is conducting market research through a Sources Sought notice for a Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer. This is not a request for quotation but aims to identify potential and eligible business firms, including small businesses, capable of providing the specified product. Responses will help determine the acquisition method. Capability statements are due by May 22, 2026.
Scope of Work
NIST seeks information on vendors that can provide a Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer with specific technical requirements. Key specifications include an input frequency range of at least 10 kHz to 26.5 GHz, a real-time spectrum analysis bandwidth of at least 80 MHz, and a displayed average noise level of -143 dBm/Hz or lower. The analyzer must have a 50-ohm input impedance, N-type/SMA/3.5mm connector, 1 Hz minimum resolution and video bandwidths, and external 10 MHz referencing. The device operation and signal display must be self-contained.
Beyond the core product, NIST also requires information on associated services. These include shipping and delivery (e.g., 12 weeks ARO), installation by vendor technicians, warranty (base manufacturer acceptable, extended options), training (on-site/off-site for operations, maintenance, troubleshooting), and maintenance plans (including labor, parts, software updates). Vendors should also address facility/utility considerations and travel requirements.
